United Nations Day 2015:

22 October at University of Bedfordshire

In 2015, we celebrated United Nations Day at the University of Bedfordshire on 22nd October. The event was hosted by the University and the Luton branch of the United Nations Association-UK.

We focused on important issues of global significance: the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta, 70th anniversary of the UN Charter, Value of Democracy and Violations of Human Rights eg Modern-day Slavery - Human Trafficking.

The event started with the raising of the UN flag at a ceremony attended by Bill Rammell, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bedfordshire and Honorary President of the UNA-Luton, Dave Taylor, Mayor of Luton, Dr Nazia Khanum, OBE DL, Chair of UNA-Luton, and other guests. It continued with speeches and an open discussion. It concluded  with refreshments and networking.
